Kinja'd!!!

I’m currently waiting for an accident to be cleaned up at the intersection where I work, so that I can get to work. I’ve been waiting 20 minutes and hope everyone’s alright.

So here’s a picture of my Friday Fill-up

Another demonstrable advantage of the Mustang over the mullet coupe: Fuel door is on the correct side.

that intersection looks very familiar...

took two wheels into work this morning, and going south on Telegraph, two times I had some dipshit change lanes without looking. First one was @ 5 Mile when some older woman who didn’t bother to signal and gave me a nasty look like it was my fault for being where she wanted to be. Second was some douchebag in a Ram on the overpass over 96, thankfully my horn and the loudest “MOTHERFUCKING ASSHOLE!” I could bellow took his attention away from his phone.

I hate people.

What is it with people just putting the registration sticker anywhere they feel like? It tells you on the sticker where to put it

I wholeheartedly agree, I currently own two cars with it on the wrong side. Still feel weird pulling up to t he pump like that.

A few years ago, I was driving south on Telegraph in that area, and saw somebody jaywalking across the street. It was mid-day, and he was walking casually, no hurry, across the left lane as I passed by. Didn’t affect me, because I’m not a left lane hog. After passing by, I checked my mirrors and somebody in a white Jag hit him at speed, sending him flying like a rag doll. When I checked my mirrors a second time, the Jag was speeding away from the scene.

But when you run out of gas you have to stand in the road to fill it up. The salesman told us that when we bought our Saab and it’s stuck with me ever since.

I get that, and apparently Volvo felt the same way. It’s still a dumb explanation, because how often does one run out of gas nowadays compared to how often the tank is filled up for regular use? There are more than enough warning lights and chimes on modern cars to tell the driver they’re low on gas. Plus keeping more fuel in the car is just sensible, as it keeps the fuel pump cool, is better preparation for an emergency, and acts as ballast against the engine and transmission, so slightly better weight distribution (a true Jalop metric).

There’s no reason that engineers can’t design a vehicle to have the fuel door on the driver side, even for global applications. Yes, a body panel would be different side-to-side, but engineering the fuel tank to be reversible or to have the filler neck be on the opposite side is pretty simplistic. A pity that filler necks on the back and center of cars (behind the license plate in a lot of cases) were found to be dangerous. I thought that was a clever way to simplify production and ease fuel station parking since all/most of the vehicles would be able to park on any side of the pump.

Correct side? I prefer passenger side. It isn’t like we could use Motorsport as an example since they are common on both sides as well.

Park on either side? You can do that with it on the passenger side as well.
